To protect balcony plants from green insects you can rely on some very effective natural remedies.

Green Bugs

A balcony full of plants always impresses, especially in the spring and summer months, when we can more easily keep our green friends out of the house, obviously guaranteeing adequate protection in case of particularly intense heat. However, it is not uncommon for our plants to be attacked by various parasites, which appear especially in the warmer season. That’s why with the arrival of beautiful days and higher temperatures we should always take a look at our plants on the balcony or in the garden. Among the many insects that can bother our green friends are also green bugs.

Green Insects on Plants: The Best Remedies to Get Rid of Them

These insects emerge mostly in summer and land on plant leaves. The reason is very simple: green insects feed on plant sap.

Green Bugs

They do not cause any harm to humans, but on the contrary they can also pose a very serious risk to plants. Fortunately, there are methods to rid plants of these insects. Many choose to rely on chemical solutions that are easily found on the market, but the advice is to focus more on natural and organic remedies. Just to give an example, garlic maceration is an ideal ingredient to drive these insects away from plants. Preparing this all-natural component is actually very simple. We take a few cloves of garlic – about 80 grams – and chop them into small pieces, then soak them in water (about 5 liters, ed.) for about 24 hours. Once this time has passed, all that remains is to filter the mixture and use the liquid obtained to vaporize the foliage of the plants. In this way we will have provided the plant with an excellent ally against these insects, which will also keep other parasites away. Another element that allows the plant to no longer have to deal with green bugs is Neem oil. About ten drops of this ingredient are enough: pour them into a liter of water and mix well. Once this operation has been carried out, we spray the liquid obtained on the leaves of the plant and the green bugs will remain only as a memory. These insects, in fact, can’t stand the smell of Neem oil. Marseille soap is also an excellent element to combat green bed bugs and is also easily recoverable, since it is often already present in the house. Dissolve about 30 grams of flakes in half a liter of water, making sure to mix everything well. After letting the solution sit for a short time, place it in a spray bottle and steam the plant, to ensure excellent protection against green insects.

Tobacco infusion is also an excellent remedy.

It is important to spray these natural solutions on the backs of the leaves as well, as green insects usually hide on the less visible side of the leaf.

Cigar Tobacco

Finally, to keep green bugs away from plants you can also try tobacco infusion. The preparation is very simple. Put half a handful of cigar tobacco in a saucepan with two liters of water, which we will have to bring to a boil. As soon as the water boils, turn off the heat and let it sit for about three or four hours. After this time, filter the solution obtained and introduce the liquid into the atomizer, so that we can carefully vaporize the plants that are on the balcony or in the garden.
