How to preserve lemons without mold and with all their aroma

whole lemon

Whole fruit, if purchased at the right point of ripeness, can be stored for about a week at room temperature. If we want to prolong its resistance, we can place it in the refrigerator, in a glass jar and in the fruit section.

the sliced lemon

When we cut a lemon and use only half, it is almost certain that the unused part will end up spoiling. To avoid this, cover it with cling film, making it adhere well to the cut part, so that it does not come into contact with the air. Another method is to place it with the pulp part at the bottom of a glass where we have put a little water, also in this case it will last a few days in the fridge. Finally, we can cut the part that is left unused into slices and freeze it, wrapping it in cling film.

grated lemon peel

Let’s face it, grating lemon peel takes a little effort, but of all the steps in making a dessert, it’s still the most annoying. So let’s try to grate the leftover, we will only make the effort once and then, if we store it properly, we will find it ready. To achieve this, spread the grated skin on a tray, put everything in the freezer for a couple of hours and then put it in a glass jar. In this way, a single block will not be formed and we will only be able to withdraw the amount we need.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is a real natural preservative. So to make it last a couple of days, all we have to do is put it in the fridge in an airtight glass container. If we want it to last a long time then we can think about freezing it, let’s do it by pouring it into ice cube molds, when we go to pick it up we will have disposable portions and therefore no waste. Let’s follow these simple tips and we will not waste even a small part of our lemons again.
