How to store lemons for a long time without them getting moldy!

Have you bought lemons a long time ago and now you risk having to throw them away because you haven’t used them? Well today we reveal some ideas for the correct conservation of these wonderful fruits of nature. In this way you will be able to not waste either the juice or the peel, avoiding wasting them. Below you will find a list of the ways and procedures to follow to solve this problem.

How to store lemons for a long time without them getting moldy!

The first method is that of ice cubes: do you have three lemons and don’t want to waste them? Here, take them and grate their zest, then squeeze the juice and put everything, both zest and juice, inside the ice cube molds. Now all you have to do is put them in the freezer. When they have solidified, remove them from the molds and place them in a silicone freezer bag and put them back in the freezer, they will be ready for any occasion.

The second method is that of toothpicks: often the lemon is cut in half and only a little of its juice is squeezed, then put in the refrigerator. Usually, however, the mistake is made of keeping it open. Instead, what you have to do is use toothpicks by inserting them between one half of the lemon and the other in order to recompose it. It will remain fresh for several days and ready to use

The third method is the water method: in this case the whole lemon will be preserved. This method is used to preserve them for longer simply by placing them in a container and adding enough water to cover them. Put the lid on the container and put everything in the refrigerator for at least 2 or 3 days. If you only have half of the lemon to preserve, place the cut half, upside down in a saucer full of water, this will allow the pulp to preserve.

The fourth method is the salty seasoning: this is undoubtedly the most elaborate procedure of all. Take a baking dish and put a layer of sea salt inside. Then add the zest of 5 lemons. Use a spoon to mix everything together. Then pour in the juice of the squeezed lemons (obviously as much as possible). Then bake at 190° for about twenty minutes and then another 10 at 150°. Then remove from the oven and let cool. When this operation is completed, put everything in a glass jar. You have just created an ideal seasoning for pasta, cold rice, salads, etc …! You can store it in the pantry.
