Are you trying to grow a beautiful basil plant but can’t because it always dies? In this article, we’ll reveal a number of little tricks that can help you achieve this goal. As we will see, there is a serious and very common mistake that leads to the death of the plant. But let’s see what we’re talking about…

Basil: don’t add too much water!

The basil plant is perhaps a must-have for Mediterranean and Italian cuisine in general. There are many families who grow this plant at home, even if it is only on the balcony of their house. The smell and aroma that each leaf of this magnificent aromatic plant gives off is unmistakable. On the other hand, it’s no coincidence that it’s a crucial ingredient in some typically Italian recipes, such as margherita pizza and pesto, just to name two. What mistake are we talking about? Overwater the basil plant. If it is true that this plant needs water, on the other hand it does not mean that we should proceed with an excessive amount. The excessive amount of water can cause the roots to become irretrievably tired and can no longer absorb the chemical elements necessary to survive. The management of humidity and therefore of the water in our plant must be careful and precise. In general, in reality, giving too much water to plants brings nothing but long-term problems. Below we have decided to provide you with a trick that will be useful to you.

The trick you didn’t know

To avoid the problems mentioned above, you can resort to grandma’s trick. In general, we would like to point out that the basil plant should always remain “at the mercy” of constant temperatures, below 10 degrees C. Also, keep in mind that the plant should stay in position for at least 6-7 hours a day in sunlight: this will help the plant survive. But what trick are we talking about? The main trick is to choose the right floor. This one always has to be moistened, but it has to be “mixed“: we are talking about a mixture made of clay and various remains. Only in this way will it be possible to obtain a healthy, green, exuberant and above all long-lived basil plant. There are many compounds of this type on the market, so you can try this “trick” without major problems and thus be able to exploit the basil plant all year round! Let us know how everything goes once you’ve tried it!
