There is a natural fertilizer that will ensure that the anthurium will always be strong and vital. Let’s see how to prepare it at home.

Anthurium characteristics

Anthurium or anthurium is a widely sold and popular houseplant for apartments. Over the years, new species have been introduced, which has meant that the range of options can be expanded. Today, it is possible to find not only red anthuriums, but also  other colors, shapes and sizes  .

Anthurium

Anthurium is a plant that can adapt to different situations and equipment, even though its origin comes from  the Colombian forests and belongs to the Araceae family  . It was introduced to Europe more than a hundred years ago.

Over time, the plant will acquire its typical gathered shape and petioles of marginal leaves. If it was previously considered a difficult plant to grow, today it is very widespread. If you are not growing well, the problems are temperature errors and low humidity. In fact, Anthurium should be  placed near windows,  in a very bright place, but not in direct light. As light increases, flowering will increase, especially if the plant is protected from drafts.

Natural fertilizer for home preparation

Anthurium fertilization should be carried out from spring to autumn,  that is, when the plant is in vegetation. You can use a chemical liquid fertilizer designed for flowering plants once a fortnight. If the fertilization turns out to be insufficient, the flowers will not open or the anthurium will only produce new leaves.

Instead of chemical fertilizer, you can also prepare one at home, completely natural. Let’s see how.

You will need the peels of three bananas, which  are notoriously rich in phosphorus and potassium. They can help the soil stay sufficiently moist. The skins should be cut into small pieces and placed in a bowl  along with a clove of garlic,  which is an excellent fungicide and bactericide to help the plant stay healthy.

Transfer everything to the bottom of a plastic bottle, having previously removed the top, and  add a little neutral detergent  . This will not be harmful to the plant and will promote decomposition. Add a liter of water and put in a cool, dry place, preferably covered with a lid, for about 48 hours.

A healthy and thriving anthurium

Filter the obtained liquid  and very slowly pour it on the soil of the plant, make sure that the soil absorbs it, and then repeat the operation. You will notice that your anthurium will grow stronger and stronger in no time. Not only will it be protected from external agents and from being attacked by bacteria/plant diseases.
